Program Objectives

  • Provide Native American youth with individualized tutoring and mentoring for scholastic performance and improvement of self-worth.
  • Acknowledge Native American stereotypes and how to respond with positive factual information.
  • Acknowledge peer influence and its potentially damaging effects, and evaluate appropriate responses.
  • Provide alternative activities to alcohol and drug usage.
  • Provide educational and vocational opportunities as a deterrent to school dropout, unemployment and crime.
  • Be a link to other community services which could benefit Native American youth and their families.
  • Provide an opportunity for Native American youth and their families to participate in social, cultural and civic activities within the community at large.
